Two of my personal favorite full size sedans in production this year are the 2019 Dodge Charger and the 2019 Ford Taurus, and I am pleasantly surprised with all of the options each vehicle offers! These top of the line sedans give customers multiple choices as far as engines, models, and trim levels are concerned. For example, the 2019 Dodge Charger comes in five different models (SXT, GT, R/T, Scat Pack, & SRT Hellcat) all with respective trim level availability. In comparison to the Charger, the Ford Taurus presents only four models to choose from (SL, SEL, Limited, & SHO) and each option can be as "basic" or as "fully loaded" as you prefer!

When it comes to safety, both the 2019 Charger and 2019 Taurus have received five-star overall safety ratings. Both of these options offer comfortable seating for up to five passengers as well. Although these two vehicles have a lot in common, such as the nearly identical warranty options, there are a lot of factors that prove why each vehicle stands alone in a sense. For example, due to the higher amount of torque available, the engine in the 2019 Dodge Charger does a much better job of transmitting power to the wheels than the 2019 Ford Taurus. Depending on the model and trim level, the performance of the Charger is slightly greater than that of the Taurus. However, if the price is your main consideration when looking for a new full size sedan, the Charger is slightly more expensive than the Taurus regardless of model or trim level options. The base model MSRP for the 2019 Dodge Charger is $29,220, and in contrast the base model 2019 Ford Taurus costs only $27,800!

The 2019 Dodge Charger provides customers with multiple options as far as engines go by offering a 3.6-liter V6 (with 292 horsepower), or a 6.2-liter V8 (with 707 horsepower)! In comparison, the 2019 Ford Taurus only offers a 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 365 horsepower. According to newcars.com, "The Ford Taurus requires fewer visits to the gas station than the Dodge Charger, making it more convenient to drive". Each of these two sedans come with a plethora of available options, which means they vary as far as gas mileage are concerned! For example, the V6 Charger gets 19 mpg/city and 30 mpg/highway, while the higher performance model (SRT Hellcat) averages 13 mpg/city and 22 mpg/highway. The V6 Taurus gets 18mpg/city and 26mpg/highway, and the "SHO" edition averages 16mpg/city as well as 24mpg/highway.  Also, as far as the interior of each full size sedan is concerned, the Ford Taurus has significantly more cargo room than the Dodge Charger. Depending on how often you are behind the wheel and your lifestyle in general, both the 2019 Dodge Charger and 2019 Ford Taurus have opportunities to accommodate your needs!

Another one of the major similarities between these two vehicles is the fact that the 2019 Dodge Charger and 2019 Ford Taurus both offer the choice for an AWD configuration! Ford provides customers with the choice of a FWD, while Dodge brings a RWD option to the table as well. These considerations are huge factors to contemplate when determining the practicality of purchasing either of these sedans. A few of the main features that are included with the Dodge Charger are its Adaptive Cruise Control, "UConnect", Full-speed Forward Collision Warning, and "Performance Page". On the other hand, the Ford Taurus has a handful of useful/technological features as well! These include the "Ford Pass App" which helps owners track their maintenance schedule, connectivity, and even roadside assistance. "BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross Traffic Alert", and the technologically advanced Lane-Keeping assist system!

The easiest way for you to make an executive decision about which of these two full size sedans would best fit you needs is to get behind the wheel, and take them each of a spin! You will not be disappointed that you did!
