Grand Cherokee compared to Jeep Cherokee

2019 Jeep Cherokee (Base Model MSRP - $24,795)

With five different models to choose from, these particular compact SUVs offer a plethora of options for Jeep lovers! For example, the base Latitude Sport Utility option includes a rear exterior back up camera, wireless smartphone connectivity, and even fully automatic headlights. When it comes to fuel economy, these vehicles provide an average of 22 miles per gallon in the city, as well as 31 miles per gallon on the highway. Base models come standard with a 7" touchscreen that displays the infotainment system so drivers can stay focused more on the road and less on their cell phone. The Latitude Sport Utility trim level also includes a front wheel drive 9-Speed Automatic 2.4L engine. However, the wheel drive systems vary depending on the particular model and specific trim level you are looking for! Also, the Jeep Cherokee comes with a very spacious cargo area. While utilizing the 60/40 split-folding rear seats, this vehicle provides a maximum volume of 54.9 cubic feet of cargo space.

In comparison, the Latitude PLUS edition includes a blind spot monitoring sensor as well as steering wheel mounted audio controls for increased safety! Also, this specific model includes the all new turbocharged 2.0-liter engine option that delivers 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque for overall increased performance. The cloth/premium vinyl seats offered in the Latitude PLUS package elevate this Cherokee model to new heights by adding to the comfort of this compact crossover. Adaptive cruise control and electronic stability control are just a couple additional safety features that contribute to a driver's peace of mind while behind the wheel.

The Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk comes with an aggressive looking exterior as well as incredible road capability. It is easy to recognize these models because of the exclusive front fascia and the off-road potential exceed expectations due to increased departure angels. A larger touchscreen that is 8.4" includes a navigation system and features "Apple CarPlay" and "Android Auto Integration".  A dual-pane panoramic sunroof increases enjoyment for passengers in the back seats as well as in the front! The Trailhawk model also includes the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine option that comes with the Latitude PLUS editions. Trailhawks are sleek to the eye and comfortable to drive in all types of varying conditions!

The Limited edition of the Jeep Cherokee incorporates essentially all of the features from the base Cherokee model, but includes premium leather trimmed front seats that are also heated and ventilated to increase comfort for passengers of all ages. From a luxury standpoint, this trim level trumps all others because it includes a heater steering wheel, power liftgate, and even an Alpine Premium sound system that comes with 9 speakers and an 8 inch subwoofer that powers 506 watts of incredible sound quality. The amount of increased technology options give this Jeep an edge over many other vehicles in its class. When it comes to the exterior of this particular model, the authentic Jeep design has become modernized and in my opinion is an incredibly stylish design!

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Base Model MSRP - $31,945)

Unlike the 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the Grand Cherokee has ten available model options to choose from, each with differing trim levels! The Laredo addition for example, has the lowest MSRP at $31,945 but still comes with a great deal of beneficial standard equipment. Blind spot and lane departure warning detection, tire pressure monitoring system, and dual front side-mounted airbags are all standard safety features that are included with the base level Laredo. Each 2019 Grand Cherokee model comes with several in-car entertainment options as well!

Although the Laredo edition is the least expensive, many of the "creature features" that come included with other models raise the price tag. For example, the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk comes packed with added comfort and convenience features such as transmission cruise and audio controls mounted on the heated steering wheel, and even adaptive cruise control for those long trips. Although it is not always cold outside, the two front seats come ventilated to keep passengers cool in this high performance edition of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The active safety features, in addition to the audio system, and parking assist, make for an all around incredible driving experience. Not to mention the "full-speed forward collision warning with active braking" which will undoubtedly add to your overall peace of mind.

The Trackhawk is an incredible value, but what is even more incredible is that each of the ten different Grand Cherokee models all offer an All-Wheel Drive option for those who live in areas with inclement weather or those of us who just love off-roading. The Laredo base model may have a more difficult time in these conditions as it comes equipped as a Rear-Wheel Drive vehicle. Included in higher end models, there is an option for an interactive 8.4-inch touchscreen that not only will help you get to your intended destination, but will also assist you with finding a local gas station, ATM, or even a restaurant. The convenience is just never ending with these Jeeps!

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT models follow closely behind the Trackhawk as the more expensive options, but for good reason. The powerful V8 6.4L engine of the SRT produces an astounding 475 horsepower with 470 pound-feet of torque. These two variations however have the same safety, interior, exterior, and power feature options which include hands free entry, heated mirrors, and two "one touch power windows". Also, the SRT and Trackhawk Grand Cherokees are recommended to utilize premium unleaded fuel, while each of the other options only require the use of regular unleaded gasoline. Another major difference that sets these two versions apart from all the others are the 20-inch wheels that will turn heads, and help passengers sit up even higher off the ground!

Unlike the 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the Grand Cherokee provides a large increase in available towing capacity for people who use their vehicle for work purposes or any other towing necessities. For example, Grand Cherokees provide between 6,200-7,200 pounds of towing capacity while the Cherokee's optimum range is between 2,000-4,500 pounds depending on the specific model.

Although there are a great many differences between the available options when it comes to 2019 Jeep Cherokees and Grand Cherokees, their warranties stay consistent throughout, which I believe is a very important component. Each and every model and trim level comes with a Basic warranty of 3 years/36,000 miles as well as a Drivetrain warranty that extends up to 5 years/60,000 miles. In my opinion, knowing that your engine and transmission are covered by a warranty is critical in the car buying process! Not only that, but for the first 5 years or 60,000 miles there is also a 24 hour roadside assistance warranty. The peace of mind that comes with these warranties is reason enough to trust the Jeep brand when considering purchasing a new vehicle. All models that were produced between the years 2017 and 2019 have this incredibly reliable coverage. In the event of a flat tire, becoming locked out of your vehicle on accident, or simply running out of gas, Jeep has you covered 24/7/365!
